Academic qualifications to be awarded

The following is the qualification that will be awarded for the completion of the course: ·

  • Diploma in TESOL by The London Teacher Training College, United Kingdom 

Introduction

The Diploma in TESOL is an internationally recognised qualification. It is a 120-hour programme combining a high level of theory  and practice.  It also provides you with the proper tools needed to help you embark on your career as an English teacher. For the experienced teacher, it gives you the chance to improve on your teaching skills and to obtain a recognised qualification - for your own career advancement.

Upon completion of the course, you will be able to:

  • understand how language is acquired
  • understand what constitutes error in a language
  • know the principles on which modern language teaching are based
  • understand what phonetics and phonology are
  • know which methodologies can be used to teach English
  • know how to use materials and aids to teach English in the class
  • know how to organise the class ·
  • know how to design lesson plans

To apply for the course, all trainees are to meet the following admission criteria:

  • 5 GCE O Levels with a credit in English
  • A high school qualification for foreign students
  • If you do not fall within any of the above categories and think you are qualified for the course, please submit all your qualifications and a letter explaining why you should be considered. Your application will then be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
  • Pass the English proficiency test and interview conducted by our internal moderators.
